The Sindh Assembly session was adjourned till Monday without transacting any business as only Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani was present and nearly all members were absent on Friday, the last working day of the week.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Syed Sardar Ahmed said if there was no quorum then after counting the number of members present, the speaker could order ringing of the first bell for the required number of members to turn up in the House failing which the same could be ordered to be rung again. He went on to say on Friday that the speaker neither did order to ring the bell and nor he followed any regulations and adjourned the house.
Ahmed further said that there was no action taken on resolutions they had been submitted and the session was adjourned unlawfully.
MQM MPA Khawaja Izharul Hassan said the dismal performance of the Sindh government was evident to everyone and that it was their responsibility to fulfil the quorum. He went on to say that all MQM MPAs were present and that they had submitted two motions as well. Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) senior minister Nisar Khuhro said the speaker reserved the right to adjourn the session in case of lack of quorum.
