Majority for letting Christians build churches

According a poll, majority of Pakistanis feel that Christians should be allowed to build churches in those Muslims countries where they are in a minority

According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by GallupPakistan, 78 per cent of Pakistanis said that Christians should be allowed to build churches in those Muslim countries where they are in a minority (such as Pakistan); 22 per cent said that they should not be allowed.

A nationally representative sample of adult men and women, from across the four provinces was asked, “In your opinion, in those Muslims countries where Christians are in a minority (such as Pakistan), should they be allowed to build churches or not?”

In response to this question, 78 per cent respondents said that Christians should be allowed to build churches in those countries where they are in a minority, while 22 per cent respondents said that they should not be allowed to build churches in such countries.

This question has been asked in previous years and the results have been quite similar. Between 2011 and 2012, there was a decline in those respondents who said that Christians should be allowed to build churches in Muslims countries (82 per cent to 75 per cent), and an increase in those who said that they should not be allowed (17 per cent to 24 per cent).

Since 2012, however, there have only been minor changes in the percentage of respondents going either way. The vast majority of respondents overall, during the past four years, have said that Christians should be allowed to build churches in those Muslims countries where they are in a minority.
