Pakistan’s under 14 player Mahin Aftab Qureshi created history on Tuesday when she annexed the girls singles title of 2nd leg ITF Asian 14 and Under Tennis Championships – Division II in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
According to a spokesman of Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF), Mahin Aftab beat Anika Seneviratne of Sri Lanka in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4 and became the first ever under-14 girl in the history of Pakistan tennis to have won the ITF Asian Championships.
“I am happy today. Such success is great for everyone,” a jubilant Mahin said.
Mahin, who was also the runner-up in the first leg of the championships held last week said that the victory had given her a lot of confidence and she was looking forward to some bigger events in the future.
“Now that I have had this success I want more, more, more in the future” she added.
PTF President Salim Saifullah Khan, Secretary Khalid Rehmani and the management committee of PTF have felicitated Mahin Aftab on her excellent performance in both tournaments in Vietnam.
Meanwhile, Pakistani boys also performed well in the championships, where Huzaifa Abdul Rehman got the ninth position, Hamza Bin Rehan 12th position and Amin Shafi got 18th position in the 2nd leg.
