While talking to Pakistan’s High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit, who called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the federal capital on Wednesday, the premier said that they intend to maintain ties with India on the basis of equality.
Establishing that cooperation between both the countries would ensure peace in the region, PM Sharif said that India was an important neighbour and that Pakistan wanted to have normal relations with India on the basis of mutual respect and equality.
It is important that two countries resolve all their outstanding issues including Jammu and Kashmir in order to have viable peace in the region, he added as Basit briefed him on the status of Pakistan-India relations.
