JI chief slams FM’s role taken up by COAS

Jamaat-e-Islam (JI) chief Sirajul Haq on Wednesday said that he was amazed that two years have passed since the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government came into power but it still has been unable to appoint a permanent foreign minister.

“The duties on the foreign front should be performed by the prime minister and chief ministers but instead the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) is carrying out those duties,” he said while addressing a public gathering in Rajowal, Okara.

The JI chief stated that Army Chief General Raheel Sharif was sometimes seen visiting London, then Washington and later China. He stated that if the government does not have any official capable of holding the post of foreign minister they can take an official from our party.

Haq said that he was surprised that US President Barack Obama is signing agreements with India on business and civil nuclear technology but “with Pakistan he was doing business in dead bodies”.

The JI chief stated that the government has made the 21st Amendment very controversial by linking religion with terrorism in it. He said a 22nd Amendment should be made which should include our advice and opinion.
