Without the co-operation of the opposition, governmental affairs could not be run smoothly, said Pakistan Muslim League President Shujat Hussain while talking to journalists after meeting with Pakistan Peoples’ Party Punjab President Manzoor Wattoo, who paid return visit to the PML chief on behalf of PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari, who is in London at present.

Shujat castigated the Punjab government for dropping the various peoples’ welfare projects started during the government of Pervaiz Elahi simply because such projects were inaugurated by the former chief minister of Punjab.

He appreciated the successful visits of the army chief to USA, Saudi Arabia, UK and China. He said that he visited the IDP camps being run by the army and pleasantly, the impression was quite opposite what the media had been projecting.

ZAEEM QADRI REPLIES:

Meanwhile, Punjab government spokesman replied to Shujat’s statements calling him supporter of a dictator.

Punjab government spokesman Zaeem Qadri said the supporters of a dictator are now hatching conspiracies against democracy and making futile efforts to keep themselves alive politically by making false statements.

Qadri said that it does not behove to those talking about public service who lead Bank of Punjab to bankruptcy. He said that everyone is aware of the massive corruption during Pervaiz Elahi tenure. He said that the Pakistan Muslim League should give account of loot and plunder of billions of rupees committed in Punjab Bank, NICL and other development projects.

He said that Lahore-Kasur Road, Thokar Niaz Baig Overhead Bridge and other development projects were the graveyards of corruption of Pervaiz Elahi era.

He said that the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has completed a number of public welfare projects.
