Metrobus woes: Traders demand taxes written off for trouble

Traders and businesspersons from Saddar and Murree road have expressed their concerns over further delay in the Metrobus project and demanded the government to write off their taxes for one year.

The traders of the Saddar market said that the business in the Saddar Bazaar has been affected due to the construction work for the last year.

Sheikh Kashif Ameen said that the government should strictly direct the construction companies to increase heavy machineries and labourers to speed up construction work on the track for completion without delay.

Another trader Nasir Hussain said that the Metrobus project was to be completed on December 25, 2014, and due to the slow space of work it was delayed for till January 30, 2015, but now it has been delayed for another two months and has increased troubles for businessmen and traders.

Zafar Iqbal said that customers are not visiting the shops due to the closure of the Murree road and it has become very difficult for traders to pay rent for their shops. He requested the government to save the stove of houses from getting cold.

Abdul Sattar said that many roads from Saddar linked with Murree road including Bank road, Adam Jee Road, Saadi Road, and they were closed due to which shopkeepers and citizens have been facing problems.

Hassan Abbas said that further delay in the project could not be tolerated.

Tanveer further informed that several salesmen and traders have suffered asthma and other diseases due to the pollution generated by the project.
