The Supreme Court (SC) has dismissed a petition filed by Zafar Ali Shah seeking a review of the apex court’s decision in respect to the takeover by General (r) Pervez Musharraf in 1999.

A three-member bench of the SC, presided over by Justice Saqib Nisar, heard the petition filed by Zafar Ali Shah on Monday.

The petition said that the court had empowered Pervez Musharraf to amend the constitution and this decision of the court was a derogation of the law and the constitution.

The court remarked during the hearing of the case, “this petition is time barred by 3,334 days, therefore it cannot be heard.”

Syed Zafar Ali Shah said “the court has heard Bhutto case after 40 years. Please hear my case too, it will make no difference.”

Justice Saqib Nisar remarked, “We don’t want to open any Pandora box now. If we hear this petition then other petitions will start pouring in.”
