Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousuf on Monday faced a protest by passengers at Islamabad airport for ‘delaying’ the take-off a PIA flight PK-741 to Jeddah, private media reported.

According to details, the flight was delayed for around 30 minutes to wait for the arrival of the minister. Enraged at the delay, the passengers protested at the waiting lounge against the ‘VIP culture’and chanted slogans ‘Go Nawaz Go.’

Upon his arrival, Mr. Yousaf issued an apology. The passengers, however, continued with their protest, causing a delay of another half-an-hour.

In September 2014, former interior minister Rehman Malik and Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) MNA Dr Ramesh Kumar Wakwani were forced out of a PIA flight PK-370 for delaying the plane from take-off, after boarding, for hours.

The video of the incident had went viral on social media and the passengers were widely applauded for their stand against the VIP culture.
