COAS calls for greater international focus and coordination in war against terrorism
RAWALPINDI-
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif’s visit to China has opened new doors of cooperation between the two countries.
The army chief held important meetings with the Chinese leadership, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asim Bajwa tweeted.
Meng Jianzhu, member of Politburo — Communist Party’s second highest council — termed China’s relationship with Pakistan “beyond individuals” adding that “Pakistan’s concern is China’s concern”.
Chinese State Leader Yu Zhengsheng termed Pakistan as the “most reliable friend” and said just as Pakistan has always stood by China, the Chinese government and its people will stand with Pakistan and help it in all respects.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Pakistan is China’s “irreplaceable all weather friend” and that both the countries are part of a community of shared destiny.
General Sharif thanked the Chinese leadership for its support to Pakistan and said, “The world must understand the evolving environment … greater international focus, coordination [is required] to logically conclude the fight [against] terrorism.”
COAS Raheel Sharif had met his counterpart Gen Qi Jianguo at the headquarters of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) on Sunday. Gen Sharif held extensive talks with General Qi during which views were exchanged on full range of regional security and defence-related issues.
They agreed to enhance long-term defence collaboration and strengthen security and counter-terrorism cooperation and intelligence sharing and training exchanges.
The army chief had also called on Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission Gen Fan Changlong on Sunday.
According to ISPR, Gen Fan described Pakistan and China as strategic cooperation partners and “iron brothers”.
Expressing solidarity with the people and the armed forces of Pakistan, Gen Fan had praised the success of Operation Zarb-e-Azb which he termed “decisive, bold and a hard blow for terrorists”.
Well it is gradually becoming obvious who is incharge in Pakistan. It is the COAS blessed by Nawaz. The latter attends funerals while the former runs the country. The COAS is received and fetted almost as the head of state. Other COAS have come through the backdoor, this one through the front door. Baton has taken over from the ballot. It is a soft coup all the way.
Ad obama warms uo to india. So does pakistan to china. And the wheels in the bus go round and round. Such diplomacy has been around for millennia
China says Pakistan ‘most reliable friend’, vows to ‘help in all respects’. The two most unreliable countries in the world talking about reliability of each other. No, its good for the world as all the reliable countries are on one side and the unreliable on the other side. Its interesting to see who will succeed in the 4th generation warfare. Surely there will not be any physical war. Each party will try to dismantle the opposition internally. Here I think India and USA have a slight advantage over each other. Pakistan already has internal conflicts with Baluch and Tribal north wanting to separate. Its just a matter of giving them weapons and its not far that they will kill each other. China is as week in side as strong it appears to be from out side. It has billions of people who have been suppressed waiting to explode. Getting into china would be tough. because of demographic problems. We need to make inroads. Get in and provoke them. Wonder if its easier to do that in eastern china. Lets see what happens!
