Prime Minister’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs and National Security Sartaj Aziz on Sunday expressed the hope that US President Barrack Obama’s visit to India will help in lowering tension in the region.

Talking to media during a ceremony, Aziz said Pakistan is reviewing the Obama visit to India and a reaction will be stated after the issuance of their joint declaration.

Aziz said that Pakistan’s ties with India are improving as compared to the past, adding that economic progress is not possible without improvement in ties with neighbouring countries.

“Only improvement in bilateral ties can guarantee peace in the region, while sports diplomacy can also prove to be helpful in this regard,” he said.

He said that US Secretary of State John Kerry was informed about Pakistan’s reservations during his visit to the country.

“No country in the region can achieve its goals in the absence of durable peace”, said Aziz.
