Respect and honour of the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) is the common denomination of the Ummah and its binding force, said Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq while addressing a mammoth rally in Karachi on Friday.
The rally named “Hurmat-e-Rasool (PBUH) Rally” was staged by the JI Karachi chapter on Main University Road after Asar prayer that marched from the NIPA Flyover to Hassan Square. Thousands of people carrying banners and placards attended the rally. They raised slogans against the blasphemous French magazine and lukewarm response of the rulers of Muslim world.
Sirajul Haq said the Muslim Ummah is present only due to its unwavering respect and honour for the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him). He said they would sacrifice the last drop of their blood for the honour of their Prophet. He said he had appealed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to call a meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). He said when the government did not take action on his appeal, he also contacted representatives of different Muslim countries and appealed them to hold joint protests. He said millions of people would take to streets to condemn the blasphemy committed by the French magazine. He said they would continue to chase the blasphemers till they tender apology. He appealed to all political parties to be united on this very important matter.
He appealed the United Nations to make a law to defend the respect of the prophets of God. He said those talking about crusade wars should remember that every child of the Ummah could became a Salahuddin Ayubi. He said if the government did not bring the political parties and the masses on one page on the issue of blasphemy, the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) would do the job. He said this was not an ordinary matter that could be easily forgotten.
Haq said after this sad incident he appealed Nawaz Sharif to represent 18 crore Pakistanis, summon a meeting of OIC, and also contact the United Nations. But he received no proper response and contacted the Islamic movements of different countries in the Muslim world and asked them to protest at local level. Subsequently, he said, they announced this ‘million march’ and the Muslims in other world also held protests in this regard. He said if millions could gather in Paris to defend the blasphemous magazine, why millions of Muslims could not gather to show their unity. He said dying for the honour of the Prophet (PBUH) was the biggest honour for any Muslim.
