The Rawalpindi Arts Council, in collaboration with literary organization the Table Talk Forum, arranged a mehfil-e-mushaira titled “Payam-e-Aman” which presented poetry that was written about the December 16, 2014, Peshawar attack.
The poets paid rich tributes to those martyred in the Peshawer incident and applauded the sacrifices of the Pakistan Army. Arshad Meeraj, Ahmed Amaar, Shahid Bilal, Yawar Azeem, Adnan Bashir, Munir Fayyaz, Jahangir Imran, Dr Farhat Abbas, Farheen Chaudhry, Riffat Iqbal, Dr Ravish Nadeem, Imran Aami, Saeed Ahmed, Farukh Raja, Hafeez ullah Badal, Ali Muhammad Farshi, Anjum Saleemi, Prof Jalil Aali and Prof Yousaf Hassan were amongst those present.
Renowned poet Prof Yousaf Hassan presided over the mushaira and Prof Jalil Aali acted as the Chief Guest, while Anjum Saleemi from Faisalabad was the guest of honour. Arshad Meeraj from the Table Talk Forum anchored the Mushaira. Resident Director RAC Waqar Ahmed and Habib Chaudhry welcomed the distinguished guests at the Council.
Speaking at the occasion, Resident Director RAC Waqar Ahmed said that all differences must be set aside and Pakistanis must unite for the sake of peace and development in the country. He said that Islam also gives the message of love and peace and following this message will be beneficial for the world and hereafter.
