On the directions of the Member Administration and Estate Amer Ali Ahmed the Health Services Directorate continued its operation against the sale of unhygienic, expired, and adulterated edible items, in the markets within the Federal Capital.
In this regard, special teams from the Health Services Directorate of the CDA conducted various raids during the month of January, issued 72 notices, and challenged 39 people for selling unhygienic, substandard, and adulterated food items in the city.
Special teams confiscated four dozen packets of Gutka, 32 litres of expired ketchup, fourteen kilograms of sub-standard pakoras and samosas, and five litres of non-branded and substandard cooking oil.
Moreover, 55 cracked /chipped utensils were also confiscated and subsequently destroyed. During the operation, teams from the Health Services Directorate partially sealed one restaurant in sector E-11/3 and a fast food restaurant in G-9 Markaz for selling unhygienic and substandard food items.
A food inspector led each special team from the Health Services Directorate and all the teams worked under the supervision of a health officer. The concerned authority on a daily basis is reviewing their performance.
Meanwhile, Amer Ali has said that operations against the sale of substandard and unhygienic food items along with cold drinks will continue with the same pace so that the availability of healthy foods and cold drinks could be ensured.
He said that stern action would be taken against those that violate rules and regulations. He said that the campaign against unhygienic edible items would continue without favour or fear.
