A Baloch militant outfit on Sunday claimed responsibility for the bombing of two 220 KV transmission lines in Notal area of Balochistan’s Naseerabad district, which plunged the entire country into darkness late on Saturday night.

The power failure, which is the fourth major breakdown of the system within a month, left countless cities, towns and villages in Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan without electricity with some parts of the four provinces still reportedly without power since last night.

QESCO officials said that power supply to Quetta and other parts of Balochistan was suspended as a result of technical fault from Guddu transmission line.

However, the spokesman of the Baloch Republican Army, Sarbaz Baloch claimed that the defunct militant group had carried out the bombing of two 220 kv transmission lines in Notal area of Naseerabad district.
State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali confirmed that transmission lines in Balochistan’s Naseerabad district were blown up by a bomb which caused the massive electricity breakdown.
