Nine policemen among 10 arrested over oil theft

Police have arrested SHO and 10 others, including eight cops on the charges of stealing oil from the PARCO pipeline within the limits of Dhamrah police station.

According to details, Incharge SSP Larkana Kamran Nawaz, on an intelligence report conducted surprise raid and found SHO Dhamrah police station Umaid Ali Shah, Head Constable Mazhar Abro, cop Mir Hassan Gopang, PARCO employee Achar Gopang and others stealing oil from PARCO pipeline.

Two farmers of the requisite land from where pipeline is passing namely Bakhshal Khokhar and Naveed Khokhar were also arrested. Police were also trying to arrest landlord Irshad Junejo who also was also allegedly involved in this theft.

The SSP told reporters that the gang involved in the crime had been busted and FIRs had been lodged against them, adding that the departmental action would also be taken against the offenders.

He further said that the SHO and other policemen were arrested for their complete failure to arrest the culprits involved in the theft which was going on since last many months, adding it was also suspected that they were involved in the said crime in other areas.

ONE KILLED, THREE INJURED IN ACCIDENT

One person was killed and three others were injured in separate road mishaps in the city on Saturday.

A boy aged about 12 years was killed when a fast moving vehicle hit him in Qayumabad sector-D. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities.

In another incident, a man, Qasim, 30, son of Jabbar, was injured in road accident in Korangi Crossing. The injured was shifted to JPMC for treatment.

Yet in another incident, two youth, Ahmed, 22, and Farooq, 25, were injured when a fast moving vehicle hit them in Baldia. The injured were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for treatment.
