The Peace & Culture Organization (PCO) organized a poetic symposium titled “Poets for Kashmir” here on Friday. Renowned poets, civil society members, journalists and people from all walks of life participated in the ceremony.
Chairperson PCO Mushaal Hussein Mullick, who is the wife of Kashmiri Hurriat Leader Yasin Malik, presented her poem and some verses from famous Kashmiri poet Agha Shahid Ali. Vice Chairperson PCO Rehana Mullick and Secretary General Sabeen Hussein Mullick also attended the event. Other poets on the panel consisted of Anjum Khaliq, Professor Maqsood Jaffari, Javed Ahmed, Junaid Azar, Farkhanda Shamim, Asghar Abid, Ali Yasir, Ali Qaswar, Wafa Chishti and Ali Akbar Abbas.
They presented their work, which spoke about the problems, culture, feelings, and hope of those in Kashmir. Their work was impressive and received warm applause from poets and participants.
The prevailing situation in the occupied Kashmir was also discussed and a resolution was passed unanimously demanding the international community and UN to play its part in helping Kashmiri people get rid of Indian oppression.
Speaking on the occasion, Mushaal Hussein Mullick delivered a message to Kashmiri people and told them not to give up.
