State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmed Thursday said the Law Department would look into the recommendation of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) with regard to giving three divorces at once.
Talking to Pakistan Television (PTV), the state minister said the department would vet and examine the recommendation, keeping in view all legal and religious aspects, prior to submitting it in the National Assembly.
Legal experts, he said, would have to keep in mind the sentiments of all religious sects and schools of thought to discourage the act of divorce, which was considered to be one of the most disliked practices in Islam.
Commenting on the procedure, he said, the Law Department would send the recommendation to the National Assembly after fulfilling all requirements. The NA would refer it to the Standing Committee concerned which would table its proposed legislation in the Lower House for further proceeding, said the minister.
