A national conference titled “Inter Sect Harmony – Strategy for Mutual Understanding” concluded here at the Faisal Mosque campus of the International Islamic university Islamabad (IIUI) in which 28 Islamic scholars from all schools of thoughts delivered lectures and called for practical steps in establishing intersect harmony in the country.
The event was organized by Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue (IIIRD) of IIUI in which Islamic scholars agreed that Mosques and Madaris are the best sources to eliminate sectarianism while Ulema should take meaningful steps and use these platforms in a positive manner.
The concluding ceremony of the conference was presided over by Chairman Standing Committee on Education, Senator Abdul Nabi Bangash while renowned Islamic scholar Maulana Samiul Haq, IIUI Rector Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, Acting President IIUI Dr. Mohammad Bashir Khan, Director Programs (IIIRD) Dr. Talib Hussain Sial and other eminent scholars also joined the concluding session.
“Some elements that are not loyal to Islam have entered in our ranks and are defaming the religion to gain their negative objectives while Ulema can play a vital role to foil their inimical attempts,” said Abdul Nabi Bangash while speaking on the occasion. He added that an Islamic scholar possesses a far better place in an Islamic society as compared to a minister or a senator, as he performs a sacred duty. He maintained that dialogue is the solution to sectarianism.
Maulana Samiul Haq criticized conspiracies against Muslims and said that the enemies of Islam want war and instability between Muslims. Muslims would have to show unity as a solution to this challenge. He called for practical steps in regard of intersect harmony instead of verbal discussions. He was of the view that Islam has discouraged violence and extremism, while bloodshed in the name of Islam is a wrong deed and is contrary to the teachings of Islam. Maulana Samiul Haq also termed the blasphemous caricatures as a lethal attempt to start chaos.
Dr. Masoom Yasinzai assured in his address that suggestions from the conference would be sent to government officials while he also vowed that IIUI would keep arranging such constructive programs for the sake of finding meaningful solutions to contemporary problems.
Earlier, Dr. Talib Hussain Sial, presented the details of the conference, thanked all the scholars and the government for their cooperation, and informed that as many as 28 scholars participated in the conference to address the important issue of intersect harmony.
