Special security arrangements ordered for public transport plying between Rawalpindi and Peshawar
The authorities have decided to further upgrade security on public transport plying between Rawalpindi and Peshawar for which closed-circuit TV cameras and walkthrough gates would be installed at the bus stands.
While issuing standard operating procedures (SOPs) for transporters and managers at the bus stands, the authorities have directed them to complete the security arrangements at the earliest.
Rawalpindi Chief Traffic Officer Shoaib Khurram Janbaz has directed the owners and to install the required security equipment. Every person entering the bus stand and boarding the vehicles will have to pass through walkthrough gates and metal detectors.
The passengers will also be required to produce computerised national identity cards before they are provided seats. The owners of the vehicles have also been asked to install bottom view mirrors. The bus stands would be provided with search lights. In addition the luggage would be checked before placing it on the vehicles.
