As the petrol crisis continued into its ninth consecutive day in Punjab on Tuesday, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan declare the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government of Nawaz Sharif (N) ‘worse’ than the previous Pakistan People’s Party government of Asif Zardari.

“Nawaz Sharif’s government [has] turned out to be more incompetent than Zardari’s government,” Imran Khan said while talking to reporters at his Bani Gala residence before leaving for Peshawar to attend a ceremony marking the completion of 40 days of the Peshawar Army Public School massacre.

Responding to a question, the PTI chief said that if petrol shortage is a conspiracy against the government, it is definitely one that the PML-N has hatched on their own. “Now no one can blame [the] PTI sit-ins for the current petrol crisis,” he said.

Khan said that he was all set to announce the country lockdown, but Sharif’s government shut down the country on its own by creating the petrol crisis.

To another query regarding the ex-CJ’s Rs 20 billion defamation lawsuit, he said that he would fight the case against Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. The PTI chairman taunted Chaudhry’s son by stating that he would borrow the money from Arsalan Iftikhar who had made a fortune during his father’s term in office.

On issue of alleged election rigging, he said that the formation of judicial commission is essential for Pakistan’s future.
