IHC judge excuses hearing case of man arrested in former religious affairs minister Shahbaz Bhatti murder case

A judge of Islamabad High Court (IHC) has excused from hearing the case of Muhammad Abdullah Omar arrested in murder case of former religious affairs minister Shahbaz Bhatti and has sent the case to chief justice of the said high court to fix the case to some other bench for hearing.

A division bench of IHC comprising Justice Noorul Haq N Qureshi and Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui took up for hearing the case of Muhammad Abdullah Omar arrested in former minister of religious affairs Shahbaz Bhatti murder case Wednesday.

The counsel for petitioner appeared in the court and told that anti-terrorism court, Sikandar Bhatti and government have been made respondents in Shahbaz Bhatti murder case. Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui has sent the case to chief justice high court for fixing it before some other bench for hearing.

He argued that no solid evidence is available about the involvement of his client in Shahbaz Bhatti murder case and case has been instituted illegally against him. His client had been kept in judicial lock up without documentary proofs, he contended.

The hearing of the case was adjourned.
