Good news for parents: Schools will pay for security measures!

The Lahore High Court (LHC) Tuesday was informed that private schools will not increase the fees in wake of security arrangements and they will manage the security equipment from their own kitty.

The statement was made before a division bench comprising Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah and Justice Ayesha A Malik which was hearing a petition filed by Advocate Zain Sakandar.

The bench was informed that, in case of any grievance, parents as well as school managements could approach DCO concerned for redress of their complaints.

The bench was further told that vigilance committees had been formed at the district level for strict monitoring of the schools while the police authorities submitted that satisfactory security arrangements have been made in the educational institutions.

Special Secretary Home Dr Shoaib Akbar, LG&CD Department Secretary Khalid Masood Chaudhry, School Education Secretary Abdul Jabbar Shaheen, Higher Education Department Special Secretary Nayyar Iqbal, DCO Captain (r) Muhammad Usman Younis, DIG Legal Muhammad Azeem Laghari, SSP Security Captain Liaqat, AIG Legal Qaiser Ali Sheikh and SP Legal Sarder Karamat Ali, appeared before the bench during the hearing and made said statements besides submitting an interim report.

The bench adjourned the hearing for a fortnight and sought further report in the matter before the next date of hearing.

Earlier the petition was heard by a single judge but, later, the LHC chief justice constituted a division bench after the matter was referred with a request for the purpose.
