ISLAMABAD-
Prime Minister(PM) Nawaz Sharif on Monday chaired a high-level meeting in the wake of the petrol crisis in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhawa,private media reported.
PM also vowed to bring to book those people who are responsible for the fuel crisis.
The meeting, which took place at PM House in Islamabad, was attended by Minister for Petroleum Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and other high-ranking officials.
During the meeting, Abbasi briefed the participants of the meeting about the reasons of the ongoing fuel crisis. He also informed attendees about the steps that have been taken to resolve the crisis.
Previously, the minster for petroleum had denied to take the responsibility of the recent fuel crisis saying, “How can I quit the ministry until proven guilty. I don’t consider myself responsible for the situation. I will myself resign if the government finds me guilty.”
Earlier today, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar had assured that the crisis of petrol will soon be over.
Dar categorically denied reports that the finance ministry is responsible for the petrol shortage, however, he said that oil companies including Pakistan State Oil (PSO) are responsible to maintain a minimum stock.
In the past few days, the crisis of petrol has gone acute as most of the petrol pumps ran out of the storage, paralyzing public and private transport.
The premier, who had taken a serious notice of fuel shortage on his return from Saudi Arabia on Saturday, has convened a meeting later today fuel management, focusing on provision of immediate relief to the people.
