The Punjab government has decided to generate 1,000 megawatts of electricity from liquefied natural gas, said Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in a meeting with a German delegation on Saturday.
Shahbaz said Pakistan needs energy to strengthen its industry and economy and his province has great potential for investment in the energy sector.
The chief minister said work is underway on the coal-based power projects in collaboration with China. He said the first 100-MW Solar Power Plant is nearing completion.
He said the federal government is also implementing a project of gas transmission line from Karachi to rest of the country for LNG.
