  • Islamabad Police arrest 29 clerics for illegal use of loudspeakers, separately arrest 70 suspects

 

The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) police have arrested 29 Muslim preachers for illegally using loudspeakers, during the last week.

Within the period of January 9, 2015 to January 15, 2015, over 29 police stations have registered cases against preachers under the Amplifier Act and Article 144.

The list comprises of Aabpara, Kohsar, Golra, Bara-kahu, Shalimar, Sabzi Mandi, Secretariat, Koral, Lohi Bheer and Sihala police stations.

70 SUSPECTS ARRESTED:

In the meanwhile, the Islamabad Police on Sunday arrested 70 suspects during search operations in various areas of the city, a police representative said.

IGP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan directed all SDPOs and SHOs to enhance patrolling, as well as checking, in various areas of the city, and conduct search operation in slum areas, Afghan habitats, under construction buildings, workshops, bus stands and inns.

Following his directions, sub-divisional police officers on duty in Islamabad headed the search operation in Bani Gala, Tarnol, Margalla and Sihala police stations. Station House Officers from Bani Gala, Tarnol, Margalla and Sihala police station, along with police team, conducted the search in Begowal, Sary Kharboza, G-8, Patan Colony, Kachi Abadi, and under construction buildings, as well as plazas. They succeeded to apprehend 70 suspects who are under further investigation. SSP Islamabad has said the purpose of this search operation was to ensure foolproof security in the city. He further directed all SHOs to continue with the efforts.

He has also appealed to the citizens to remain vigilant and inform the police in case of any suspicious activity around them.
