Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) Ameer Hafiz Muhammad Saeed has called the blasphemy “biggest terrorism” in the world and announced countrywide protest movement against the publication of blasphemous caricatures in a weekly newspaper in France.

“It’s terrorism against Muslims and there will be no peace in the world if adequate international laws are not made against the blasphemy,” said Hafiz Saeed, adding that JuD would take out Hurmat-e-Rasool March in Lahore on Sunday and has invited all religious and political parties and civil society to participate in the grand march to be taken out from Nasir Bagh to The Mall.

Addressing thousands of protestors against the blasphemous caricatures at Chuburji Chowk on Friday, Saeed called upon the government to immediately summon a meeting of all Islamic countries for chalking out a strategy for international legislation for safeguarding the sanctity of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). Protestors, carrying placards and banners, showed their rage and chanted slogans against the blasphemers and demanded death penalty for them. A large number of lawyers and students also participated in the protest.

The JuD ameer said that the West was triggering clash of civilisations as 40 European countries were united to show solidarity with the blasphemous caricatures. He said that these blasphemous caricatures had hurt the emotions and religious sentiments of 1.5 billion Muslims all over the world. He said that all Muslims were also united for safeguarding the sanctity of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and they would sacrifice their lives but could not tolerate the blasphemy.

He welcomed the resolution passed by the National Assembly against the blasphemous caricatures and protest rally by parliamentarians outside the assembly building. However, he said, that it was not enough, and a lot more was needed to be done to stop this ‘biggest’ terrorism against Muslims. He also called upon the government to raise the issue at international forums effectively.

He called upon the Ulemas to sensitise the people about the blasphemous acts and conspiracies of non-muslims against Islam.

Leaders of other political and religious parties of Tehreek-e-Hurmat-e-Rasool also addressed the protest rally and showed their firm resolves to go to any extent for safeguarding the sanctity of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
