Karachi: Dead bodies go missing from Afridi Goth cemetery

KARACHI-

For the past few months, dead bodies of children have reportedly gone missing from a local cemetery in Karachi, private media reported.

Residents of neighbourhood in Manghopir discovered on Saturday that five corpses have mysteriously disappeared from the Afridi Goth graveyard, with two cases having taken place in the last 15 days.

According to the residents, police suspect that an animal is stealing the corpses of children as some graves were dug up and left open.

Talking about the mysterious disappearances to a local media outlet, Station House Officer (SHO) Manghopir Ghulam Hussain Korai said “the graves were unpaved. An animal dug its way to the bottom and consumed the child corpses; they did not disappear. Flesh and bones were also found.”

Security personnel have been deployed at the cemetery to watch over the situation.

According to inhabitants, the air of panic hovers over the area as this is the first time in past 30 years, when the graveyard was built, that such an incident has taken place.

They further  demanded the authorities to take quick action to stop unexplained disappearances.
