All aboard to fight terrorism!

Provincial Home Minister (r) Shuja Khanzada said that Punjab government is taking effective measures to end terrorism.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday, he said no single department or person could defeat terrorism alone, asserting that the nation and media would have to join hands with the government and army to eliminate terrorism.

He said Operation Zarb-e-Azb and executions had dealt a major blow to extremists who might retaliate by attacking at crowded places, targeting political leaders and law enforcement and security agencies personnel.

Shuja said that the government and the army are on the same page and action against terrorists is being taken jointly.

“The Punjab government has amended some laws about misuse of loudspeakers, wall-chalking and arms,” he added. He said Punjab police, Army and other law enforcement agencies had started implementation of the National Action Plan.

“Lists of some madaris and NGOs involved in facilitating terrorists had been prepared and action against them would be started soon,” said the minister.

Punjab IG Mushtaq Sukhera said search operation around cantonments, airports, schools and other sensitive places was in progress and more than 5,000 operations had been conducted, 6,000 places and 93,000 people had been checked and 650 cases had been registered.
