The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday decided to conduct open court proceedings on a plea challenging the bail of Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, the main accused in the 2008 Mumbai attack.
A one-judge bench consisting of Justice Noor ul Haq Qurashi resumed the in-camera hearing of a petition filed by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) challenging Lakhvi’s bail. The bail was granted by the ATC on Dec 18, 2014.
Lakhvi, through his counsel Advocate Rizwan Abbasi, is also seeking bail from the court in all cases that are pending against him.
During the course of the proceedings, Additional Attorney General (AAG) Afnan Karim Kundi submitted confidential documents and records of the cases pending against Lakhvi.
The court after hearing the case decided to conduct open court proceedings from January 15, 2015, and adjourned until then.
