The polio count for 2014 went up to 303 with the confirmation of six more cases on Tuesday, health officials said.
Two new polio cases were confirmed from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), two from Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA), and one each from Sindh and Punjab province.
In Pakistan, 178 polio cases were reported from FATA, 23 in Baluchistan, 68 in KP, 30 in Sindh and four in Punjab, whereby the total number of polio cases went up to 303 for 2014.
Officials from the health department said that 10-month old Abdul Aleem son of Abdul Haq from Noushero Feroz district was the latest victim polio in Sindh province, bringing the total number of cases in Sindh to 30 during 2014.
Some suspected cases, whose samples were collected last year, are still pending confirmation in labs. In case of positive reports these cases would be added to the tally of 2014, the officials informed.
