In collaboration with literary organisations Zaweya and Ahmed Faraz Trust, the Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) organised a ceremony in connection with the 84th birth anniversary of renowned poet Ahmed Faraz.
Distinguished poet and intellectual Prof Ehsan Akbar presided over the ceremony while famous writer Mansoor Afaq was chief guest at the occasion. Zaweya Patron-in-chief Mehboob Zafar anchored the program and RAC Resident Director Waqar Ahmed welcomed the guests.
Addressing at the occasion, Prof Ehsan Akbar described his relation with Ahmed Faraz and shared memories with the participants. Famous poet Mansoor Afaq said that Faraz bestowed best poetry to Urdu literature.
Mehboob Zafar said Ahmed will be remembered forever due to his contribution in poetry. Story writer Hameed Shahid said Ahmed Faraz knew how to use words in his poetry while famous intellectual Jamil Yousaf said Ahmed Faraz used subject of love in unique style.
The participants also cut the cake of 84th birth anniversary of renowned poet Ahmed Faraz and threw light on work and personality of him.
After the ceremony, a Mushaira was also held in which Dr Ehsan Akbar, Mansoor Afaq, Syed Nusrat Zaidi, Jamil Yousaf, Hassan Abbas Raza, Javed Ahmed, Tariq Naeem, Manzar Naqvi, Shahzad Nayyar, Qayyum Tahir, Dr Farhat Abbas, Tahira Ghazal, Rashida Maheen, Imran Aami, Aqil Shah, Farah Deeba, Akhtar Raza Saleemi, and Mehboob Zafar recited their poetry.
