PESHAWAR-

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman, Imran Khan on Wednesday expressed his bewilderment at the protest upon his arrival at Peshawar’s Army Public School, private media reported.

Addressing a press conference, Khan said “I don’t understand what the point of the protests was… I am just a chief of a party and Pervaiz Khattak is the chief minister of the province, but the school is run by the army.”

“I am upset that there were parents outside who were protesting,” the PTI chief further said.

He said that he visited the place to boast the morale of the students but failed to understand the reason behind the protest.

“If I have come here to increase the morale of the parents then what kind of a protest can be there against us?” Imran questioned.

However, he also said that he fully understands the grief and pain that parents of  martyred children of the Army Public School are going through.

“I fully understand their grief…they have lost their children,” he further said “I respect their protest.”

Admiring the courage of the students who survived deadly attack, he said “I am thankful for such a great welcome, the morale of the students was high.”

Taking about the security measures taken by the provincial government, PTI chairman said that it was not possible to provide full-proof security to over 65,000 schools in the province, however, his party’s government in KPK would not allow disruption of educational activities in the province.

Earlier today, Khan made a visit to the tragedy-struck school with his new wife Reham Khan. Bereaved families protested in front of the school, rejecting political point-scoring over the tragedy while a small group attempted to block the way of the PTI chief’s convoy.

Later on, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Mushtaq Ghani called it a politically-motivated protest.

“Awami National Party and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz have formed Shuhda Forum and the protesters outside Army Public School were members of the forum. The protest had nothing to do with the victims’ families,” he said.

  1. KP info Minister could be right as most students came from cultured background and the conduct of those shown was far from that class. Then they were a small insignicant number trying to overcome their lack of numbers by rowdy behavior. I think these people were out of line and should be ignored. Perv Rashid could be behind such misconduct.

  2. Big Shame on Imran .He is doing honeymoon visit to APS with his controversial wife .We Pakistani people do no want to see Imran ugly face.

  3. " I am just a chief of a party and Pervaiz Khattak is the chief minister of the province, but the school is run by the army.”- is he once again trying to pass on the buck , this time on to the army- is he also trying to say that the army was responsible for the massacre!A selfish irresponsible wannabe politician! He got a good taste of his own medicine!

  4. School is run by the Army. What is he trying to say here? Last six months he was enjoying honeymoon at Federal Capital, totally oblivious of his duties and now he's having another honeymoon. What a loser!

  5. The anger of parents is justified. I have been through what they are feeling. Yes IK should be more vocal. After all he is trying to change Pakistan and wants to be the peoples leader. But saying he should have not got married soon after the PSH incident is not fair to the man. For instance, if a death in a family occurs a few days or weeks before a marriage ceremony, the marriage is postponed. Instead it is done in the simplest manner possible. We all have directly or indirectly witnessed such a marriage. This is exactly what imran khan has done. We shouldn’t expect him to postpone his marriage, it is his personal affair. I think the media should not have highlighted his marriage like a bollywood movie. He clearly was not looking for so much attention. Mature up Pakistan.. get behind this man.. he might just save us from our miseries… ET for Gods sake let this comment of mine through…
