LHC acquits death row convict sentenced for seven-year-old’s murder

Following an acquittal of four death row prisoners last week, Lahore High Court on Tuesday acquitted another convict condemned to death for murdering a seven-year-old girl.

According to details, convict Zameer Ahmed was exonerated for a lack of evidence against him.

On January 5, Rawalpindi bench of LHC had acquitted four prisoners accused of a 2002 suicide attack on an Imambargah. 11 people were killed and 19 were injured in the attack.

The court ruled that the death sentences were not based on justice and ordered the release of the four men.

On the same day, a death row inmate ;convicted for a kidnapping-for-ransom case in 2012, was acquitted by the Supreme Court.

  1. These judges should be tried in military courts for their inaction and soft attitude toward terrorists. Terrorism is unlike other crimes and concrete proof will be some time lacking due to the nature of the crime. Courts should convict and sentence them on probability. Military courts any where in the world would_leave Burdon of proof with the accused to prove his innocence. That is not a perfect but then sadly we do not live in a perfect world.
