Javed Hussain’s courageous attempt to stop a suicide bomber from entering an Imambargah in Rawalpindi, on Friday, has earned him massive respect on social media with the hashtag #SaluteToShaheedJaved. The hashtag became a top trend on Twitter in Pakistan.

A powerful blast hit an Imambargah in Chatian Hatian area of Rawalpindi, on Friday, killing at least eight people and injuring seventeen others. The blast took place outside Imambargah Aun Muhammad Rizvi, where an Eid Milad-un-Nabi congregation was being held.

Police sources revealed that the explosion targeted the mosque because of its affiliation with Shiite Muslims.

According to authorities, the suicide bomber tried to enter the mosque but he was stopped at the entrance by Javed Hussain, a man in his forties, present outside the congregation. When the suicide bomber was stopped from entering the mosque, he blew himself up outside. Javed Hussain lost his life to safe many others.

His daring sacrifice has captured the hearts of many in the country, as he is receiving many salutations, and being acclaimed a national hero.
