Different people react to different situations in different ways. Or different classes of people do, at least. Take the security situation, especially with schools becoming fair game. Some parents are still anxious, and not sure whether to send their children when schools open tomorrow. But the rich and famous, obviously, react differently. Some are considering flying their children abroad for education. And that’s pretty much how they are reacting to other things also. Word has it that Pakistan is no longer safe for the trendy to hold their marriages; some are heading to Bangkok, others to other, more pleasing places in Europe. Like the recent wedding that was moved from Karachi to Paris. Ironically, though, Paris suffered three terrorist attacks in the last few days. Seems our rich and famous carried the infection with them.

Ch Nisar has his ways, you know, and one peculiarity has been his preference for the prime minister house instead of the interior ministry as his office. Really, that’s where he heads to when he leaves for work every morning; walking about as if it were his own office, observing some meetings, walking in on others. He’s particularly fond of the group that chalks out the prime minister’s media strategy; it’s headed by the PM’s daughter Maryam, no less, along with a few other notable females. Nisar never forgets to compliment them. “Wiz-kids” he calls them, before continuing with his tour. Quite as if he owns the PM house. Maybe the interior ministry is not ‘close enough’ to the real seat of power for him. Maybe he wants to get closer.
