Take counter-terror NAP seriously, urges president

President Mamnoon Hussain has underlined the need for relentless implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) on terrorism to purge the country completely of the menace of extremism and terrorism.

He was addressing the participants of National Security and War Course at National Defence University (NDU) in Islamabad on Friday.

He said that the entire nation is united against terrorism and Operation Zarb-e-Azb is nearing its successful culmination.

Deploring the Peshawar incident, the president said the government is committed to combat the menace of terrorism. “Our soldiers and innocent civilians are sacrificing their lives for the cause.”

On the external front, Hussain said that Pakistan has no aggressive designs against any other country but “provocative acts will be fully retaliated”.

“Pakistan will defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity at all costs,” said Mamnoon.

“Our nuclear capability is only intended at ensuring peace and security in the region,” said the president, adding that the just resolution of the Kashmir dispute is imperative for stability in the region.

In his welcome address, NDU President Javed Iqbal said the course on national security and war was aimed at equipping the participants with the changing dynamics of national security.

Earlier, the president handed over certificates to the participants of the course.
