Polio drive in super high-risk UCs to start from Saturday

Karachi Director Health Dr Zafar Ejaz on Friday said that four-day anti-polio vaccination drive and medical camps in nine super high-risk Union Councils of Karachi would commence from Saturday where 87,000 children would be administrated polio drops and other health facilities.

He said children and general public of nine super high-risk UCs of Gadap, Baldia, SITE, Orangi and Landhi Town would be vaccinated against polio with health facilities at camps. He said 87,000 children would be injected with inactivated poliovirus vaccine (IPV), routine vaccination of other diseases and medical facilities to general public during a four-day campaign.

He said the aim of launching the drive and organising camps in these UCs was to promote mother and children health in order to prevent them from various fatal diseases. He said the camps would be established in the high-risk UCs to bring children to these camps with help local eminent. He said medical practitioners would also provide consultation and other medical facilities including check-up to visiting people beside vaccination of children at the camps.
