Islamabad High Court (IHC) has sought report from Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) chairman containing details of Afghan SIMs being used in Pakistan and record of non-registered SIMs.
The court has also sought reasons from PTA chairman for non implementation of its orders.
The petition filed against use of Afghan SIMs in Pakistan came up for hearing before IHC Thursday.
The petitioner Saimul Haq Satti appeared before the court and took the plea Afghan SIMs are being used in Pakistan illegally through mobile companies since the last several years. Consequently, terror-related incidents such as Peshawar army public school carnage are taking place in the country. No record is available of these Afghan SIMs. All the mobile companies are tax defaulters to the tune of Rs 26 million.
He pleaded no action has been taken by Interior Ministry and PTA chairman against use of these SIMs and illegal and non-registered SIMs.
The hearing of the case was adjourned indefinitely.
