I would like to draw the attention of the authorities concerned to the lack of operational streetlights in many areas of the city.
This is turning out to be a major problem for citizens as there is a significant rise in street crimes in general and cell phone snatching cases in particular in areas where streetlights are not working.
Some of the installed street lights on Main Abul Hasan Ispahani Road (from Safari Park to Maskan Chorangi) are not illuminated and seem defunct since last couple of weeks.
Hence, muggers have an ideal location to rob people of their valuables. As night falls, due to the inoperative street-lights criminals play havoc in the darkness. I am quite positive that people are not even bothered to register their complaints of being mugged as there is a severe distrust of the police.
I had registered a complaint via KMC website Dec 29, 2014 and got a complaint number 141229-5335 but no action has yet been taken to resolve the issue.
I hope and pray that the authorities will look into the matter as dysfunctional streetlights in the city are putting people’s lives at risk.
