Pakistan on the path of progress, says PM

Prime Minister(PM) Nawaz Sharif on Thursday said the country is on the path of progress as the economy is showing positive indicators, private media reported.

Addressing a gathering of overseas Pakistanis in Bahrain, PM said the government has taken manifold measures for the welfare of people.

According to a report published on Radio Pakistan, he said various mega projects, such as Bhasha dam, have been initiated to resolve the crisis of energy.

Speaking about the success of Operation Zarb-e-Azb he said, the operation has brought good results with several terrorists have been killed and many others have left their hideouts.

He also said the operation was launched as last resort against terrorists as the conciliatory efforts could not succeed because terrorists were not ready to surrender.

The premier said special courts are being established for speedy trial of terrorists.

Talking about the growing tension between Pakistan and India, he said that his government has made sincere efforts to strengthen ties with new government of India but the efforts were not reciprocated.

The premier said that India cancelled the foreign secretary level talks with Pakistan on the pretext of the Pakistani High Commissioner’s meeting with the Kashmir leadership, which has been a practice for 60 years.

He also said that Pakistan wants to hold good relations with neighbouring countries.

Recalling his meeting with  he new Afghan President Ashraf Ghani in Islamabad, Nawaz said that Ghani is pro-Pakistan and he has promised to cooperate with Pakistan in the fight against terrorists.

He also said that both the countries had vowed not to allow  their countries to be used against each other.

Earlier, PM held meeting with the Prime MInsiter of Bahrain Shaikh Khlifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa in Manama Bahrain.

During the meeting, the matters pertaining to enhanced economic,political, and diplomatic relations came under discussion.
