Four policemen, seven suspected militants killed in Karachi clashes

At least seven suspected militants were killed on Thursday during a search operation conducted by the police in Karachi’s Sohrab Goth area.

Acting on a tip-off, the security officials also arrested another two injured miscreants during the operation. One of the assailants was a local leader of al Qaeda.

“As many as 500 security personnel conducted the operation,” SSP Malir Anwar confirmed.

Meanwhile, four policemen were also killed in separate incidents of targeted killings in the city.

Two of the victims, who were shot dead in North Nazimabad, were identified as Bhagiyo Khan, 35, and Abdul Bari.

Just a day ago, two policemen were also killed in a gun attack in Sohrab Goth.

In 2014 alone, around 130 policemen, 27 security guards and 12 Rangers were killed in Karachi.
