ISLAMABAD-

Chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam- Fazl (JUI-F), Maulana Fazlur Rehman, on Tuesday expressed reservations over the new bills approved by the National Assembly for establishment of military courts in the county, a private news channel reported.

Speaking to media outside the Parliament House, he said “the government has demonstrated non-seriousness by presenting the constitutional amendments in the Assembly while its team members were holding negotiations with us.”

He further said that his party was not taken into confidence over the matter.

The JUI-F chief also decried the approval of the bills, calling it the attempt to make Pakistan a secular country. “Pakistan is an Islamic state and we won’t allow anybody to turn it into a secular state,” he said.

He also stated that the nation is united against terrorism, militancy and religious extremism, but some factions of the society are associating religion with terrorism.

The National Assembly of Pakistan has unanimously passed 21st Constitutional Amendment Bill 2015 and Army Amendment Bill 2015 allowing establishment of military courts for a period of two years for speedy trial of terrorists.

Members of JUI-F and Jamat-e-Islami abstained from voting today.

  1. It is now quite clear who the terrorist and terrorist supporters are…the enemies of a free and democratic Pakistan are right in front of you…radicals who think their religion puts them above the laws of the land need to be taught a lesson…the country comes first..

  2. Sadly, surprisingly – i agree with eddie. burka maulana and this fat idiot need to be tried in military courts first. Theyre both the biggest terrorists ever!

    • Well said AZ, this is double standards he said one thing in the APC and completely changed it later, as you say it is clear Fazlur Rehman is a terrorist supporter.
