As many as 14,500 applications are pending in the complaint cell established by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for parliamentarians and common people to register their complaints against any violations of human rights by government offices.
Documents have revealed that the PM Public Affairs and Grievances Cell received 153,832 complaints in 2014 out of which 139,273 have been cleared. However, 14,559 applications are still pending before the cell and no action has been taken on them by the authorities concerned.
According to the PM Secretariat sources, action was not taken on these complaints due to the anti-government protest sit-ins and other works of the government.
These complaints include fake appointments and embezzlements in different departments. It was also revealed that some applications are against cabinet ministers for violating their power.
