ISLAMABAD-

Chief of Army Staff Gen Raheel Sharif on Friday said that setting up special courts to try hardcore terrorists was not a ‘desire’ of the Army but a need of extraordinary times.

Addressing the participants of the All Parties Conference at the Prime Minister House , General Sharif was quoted by ISPR as saying that the country would return to the ‘original system’ when normalcy returns.

He said that the country has reached a critical stage in its fight against terrorism.

“We will win decisively (Insha Allah)…can’t even imaging to lose,” he was quoted as saying.

He said that today’s decisions in the APC would determine the destiny of the nation, adding the nation has to stay focused on implementation of these decisions.

“Consensus reached during the first APC must endure…we need to make quantum decisions,” Gen Sharif stressed over the participants of the meeting.

  1. No doubt in that. Special courts are a need of hour. Iftikhar Chaudry, former Chief Justice, needs to shut up and banned from Public appearances.

  2. What will military courts achieve – i mean really? We need to be lookingst long term prevention methods to isolate detain and eliminate all exteemists. This will of course be a multplie phase programme – but i really doubt setting up military courts to try suicide bombers will help. I mean, theyre all exploding themselves! so whats the point in setting up army courts??!?!!?! Whose gona be on trial – theyre dead limbs?!?
