ISLAMABAD-
A high-level meeting of parliamentary parties, presided over by Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif, is currently taking place at PM House to discuss counter terrorism strategy, a private news channel reported.
According to details, PM has taken all national leaders into confidence on the progress to implement the National Action Plan (NAP). Future strategies to combat militancy area also being discussed.
Speaking at the opening session of the meeting, PM Nawaz said that the whole nation is waiting for the implementation of NAP, adding that the role of all political parties is commendable in regards to formulate the counter-terrorism strategy.
“I am happy today that country’s political leadership is united to eliminate terrorism,”the premier said.
PM Sharif stressed upon the political parties heads to finalize the plan so that it should be presented before the parliament for quick implementation.
“I think, now there is no need to debate any further on this issue as we have held a series of marathon meetings to discuss this plan over the last 16 days,” he added.
He further said that the tragic incident of Peshawar School attack has united the whole nation.
Talking about newly established military courts, Sharif said that the courts will be functional for the period of two years in the country.
The chief ministers from all the provinces and important cabinet members are taking part in the national conference. Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif is also present at the meeting.
Leaders of all parliamentary parties including Asif Ali Zardari, Syed Khursheed Ahmed, Makhdoom Amin Faheem, Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan, Mian Raza Rabbani, Rehman Malik from Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Imran Khan, Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Shafqat Mehmood and other leaders from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf(PTI) are present in the meeting.
While the leaders of Awami National Party(ANP),Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PMLQ),Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM), National Party (NP), Baloch National Party(BNP), Jamat-e-Islami’s (JI), Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazal (JUIF), Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PMLF) and Governor Khyber Pukhtunkhawa Sardar Mehtab Khan are also among the participants of the conference.
