The government’s decision to impose an additional five percent general sales tax (GST) on prices of petrol and other petroleum products was challenged in Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday.
According to details, the petitioners stated that increasing tax on POL products after reducing petroleum prices is “injustice” to the poor masses.
“The government is not passing on the benefit of declining global oil prices to the consumers in Pakistan,” said the petitioner. He appealed to the court to issue orders to the federal government for withdrawal of the additional tax.
