- 150 suspects, including 45 Afghans, arrested in Peshawar
The law enforcements agencies Tuesday arrested five terrorists including a foreigner during a crackdown in Lyari area. The five terrorists are stated to be members of banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Crime Branch Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shahjhan Khan said that the police conducted the operation after receiving a tip-off.
Arms including SMGs, repeaters, pistols and five kilograms of explosive material were recovered from the possession of the detained men.
SSP Shahjehan said that the gang’s chief Tariq Afridi has been killed in Operation Zarb-e-Azb. The gang was involved in killing of security personnel during an attack on Matnai Check post, he added.
150 SUSPECTS ROUNDED UP IN PESHAWAR:
In the meanwhile, law enforcement agencies have arrested 150 suspects from different areas of Peshawar during an overnight search operation.
According to police sources, those arrested include 45 Afghan nationals and five absconders. The Afghans did not have travelling documents with them, sources added.
Police have also recovered seven Kalashnikovs, 32 rifles, 164 pistols and hundreds of rounds from their possession.
SUICIDE VEST DEFUSED IN SARGODHA
Moreover, in Sargodha, police recovered and defused a suicide vest with 10 kilogram explosives attached to it. Panic gripped the area after the recovery of the suicide jacket.
Deputy SP (DSP) Razakar Shah said that a resident of the city’s suburbs informed the police about the presence of a suspicious jacket on the bank of Nullah Saim.
The police along with the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) reached the scene and defused the explosive-laden jacket.
