ISLAMABAD-
A meeting of the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA), chaired by interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, is currently taking place at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad, private media reported.
The meeting will review counter-terrorism measures in the country.
Senior representatives from law enforcement and intelligence agencies are attending the meeting.
During the meeting, Nisar said NACTA has been made fully operational and advised all concerned departments for cooperation in intelligence sharing with NACTA to weed out terrorists from the country.
The minister also guaranteed to provide all resources for uninterrupted and effective working of the authority.
The meeting of NACTA was summoned after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif directed to make NACTA functional.
The anti-terror body has following responsibilities:
(a) to receive and collate data or information, and disseminate and coordinate between all relevant stakeholders to formulate threat assessments.
(b) to develop action plans and strategies against terrorism and extremism and report to the Federal Government about implementation of these plans, on periodical basis.
(c) to carry out research on topics relevant to terrorism and extremism and to prepare and circulate documents.
(d) to carry out liaison with international entities for facilitating cooperation in areas relating to terrorism and extremism.
(e) to review relevant laws and suggest amendments to the Federal Government.
(f) to appoint committee of experts from Government and non-Government organizations for deliberations in areas related to the mandate and functions of the Authority.
There is nothing to review ban all religious groups that incite hatred against any other religion or sect, shut down the illicit dollar earnings of Mullahs! Deport all foreign Jehadis immediately starting with Afghans.
