Cross-border firing between Pakistani and Indian border troops martyred two Rangers personnel in the Shakargarh sector of Narowal district on Wednesday, private media reported.

Pakistan’s Rangers Punjab, who patrol the eastern border with India and the disputed boundaries, said in a statement that a commander from the Indian side had requested a meeting and when two representatives from the Rangers contacted them, the Indians opened fire.

Naik Riaz Shakar and Lance Naik Safdar of Chenab Rangers were seriously wounded and later succumbed to their injuries.

Meanwhile, India claims one of its soldier has been killed while another is injured.

Earlier in October and November, around 20 people lost their lives in cross-border skirmishes between the two countries.
